There are presently no open calls for submissions.
PVR SUBMISSIONS FOR ISSUE 18 ARE LIVE.
Submitters will be contacted in July with decisions.
PVR 18 Submissions Deadline: JUNE 30th, 2024
Guidelines:
Pomona Valley Review publishes unsolicited manuscripts during the summer. Short fiction, poetry, and art is welcome. Please follow the specific guidelines below to ensure your work is submitted properly and will receive the editors' attention, otherwise your manuscript may be deleted without response.
Timetable:
We are open to submissions in fall through spring, and publish annually in summer. All submissions will initially be responded to automatically via Submittable, but we require several months to announce which submissions will be published and when.
Publishing Rights:
Pomona Valley Review requires first serial rights to all publications, meaning that we will be the first publisher of all submissions. After your work is published in our review, however, you may publish your work elsewhere without any affiliation to us. We only maintain the right to use your work, or parts of it, for the issue in which it is published, and occasionally online in relation to the issue.
Additional Guidelines
Submit no more than two types of manuscripts at one time (e.g., two stories and two poems). Simultaneous submissions are accepted and encouraged, but let us know immediately if your work is to be published elsewhere.
Please allow several months for our editors to respond to your manuscript before you submit again. If after this time period you have still not received a response, please notify us by email and we will check to see if your submission was received.
Manuscripts should be single-spaced and include a header with your name and email address on every page. Please select the "No Spacing" option in Word for the ease of formatting your work, making any necessary changes in formatting thereafter. Please proofread your work thoroughly to ensure acceptance.
Include a short bio of yourself in the cover letter, which will be published with your work, should your manuscript be accepted. Refer to previous "Biography" sections of PVR issues for examples. If no bio is submitted, your work will not be considered for publication.
For the title of your submission, please include only the title of the actual work via Submittable, as we will already have your name.
